Today I took the sculpture to Macomb Mall. As I expected, people don't do much more than glance at it as they pass. The strongest response came from security, who visited me twice. The first man of great power said it was fine and that I could keep doing what
I was doing. The second, who came about 20 minutes later, told me that his boss claimed it was "Messing up the atmosphere of the mall."
Getting pictures of the very brief glaces was difficult. I'm guessing I will get a little better as this
project goes on. Most pictures were just of people walking near it. I'm hoping to get some more photogenic reactions.
The lack of reaction is somewhat surprising. Not that I expect everyone to stop and stare at it, but I would think that you'd be more curious about this yarn pyramid than how your fingernails are looking.
